sunshine and trebles



The weather was beautiful (again) in the UK this weekend and I was lucky enough to make time to sit and crochet. My granny stripe blanket is coming to an end; I'm happy and sad at the same time. I have loved every stitch and sewing in ends on this colorful creation and the turquoise border is giving me a lot to smile about, I just love it. So bright and cheerful and it will be perfect for our holiday in September on the broads.

I've ordered some more Stylecraft Special DK in some new colours that I don't have in my stash so that I can start a new one, probably for my shop. I have to finish my granny square shrug first, I may even get three projects finished this month! I plan to use the same border for the shrug as I have for the blanket but in the same silver grey colour, the sleeves will be just a plain band. Its taking forever to make this shrug, but I don't think I have that many more rows to complete. The Lion Brand Heartland shrug will be much easier to work on.

Lovely weekend here too but a bit windy to sit outside with my knitting. Knitting patterns had to be held down with a stone and my ball of wall kept "flying" out my bag!

It sounds perfect! I get a little dejected after the first few rows when starting a blanket so understand the happy/sad feeling. Love the granny square legs! xx

A finished blanket is well worth celebrating! And I love the colours. I haven't made a blanket yet this year, but I've been busy.

It was a beautiful Saturday here but the wind was quite strong and destructive here on Sunday. Love the colour of the border, beautiful.

Denim Daisy Granny Square construction

And here it is all finished last Friday, just in time for a heat wave! Seriously I do love this jumper and it fits so well with a white t shirt underneath, jeans and flip flops. Easy eyelet yoke

I’ve recently started my first top down jumper and I don’t know why I didn’t start one sooner!  Trying on my easy eyelet yoke sweater in June! It’s so chilly I was quite happy to try it on. With just 4 inches of the body to knit before the border and then the sleeves. I’ve knitted in hand dye Aran yarn from Fiona Sew Happy Creative it’s beautiful to knit with and I’m mixing up some skeins I had in my stash including Bee Happy. I’ll use this for the sleeves blending into a similar colour for the end of the sleeves. Really happy with the fit. I chose the Xl size with 5.5mm KnitPro Cubics tips. I think it will need 600g in total (roughly size 14) pattern by Knitatude if you’ve always wanted to try top down knitting I recommend you try this pattern
