Happy New Year!


Happy New Year to you all.

It was my last day off today and I went off for lunch with Ian at Wagamama in Ashford. We've never been before so wasn't sure what to expect. Lunch was lovely (lots of noodles) and we sat with two people that we'd never met before and had a lovely chat. It made our lunch so much better with lots of interesting stories about pub life.

I've had a restful break from work for almost two weeks. Christmas day was spent with both parents at our house; watching lots of movies; eating too many chocolates and walking Moss almost every day (maybe some of the calories were burnt off!) I hope you all had a great Christmas too.

New Years day was spent gardening, something I havent been able to do for so long due to so much rain. I spent hours outside thinking ahead to warmer weather and hopefully growing better vegetables this year. 2012 was a terrible year for so many gardeners and I hope this year will be much better. The raised veg patch needs a revamp; I wish now I'd used tanalised wood so that I didn't have to take it all out and make new ones. Maybe I could get away with them for one more year with a make do and mend job.

for a visit to Butterflies in the Glasshouse at Wisley. I've never been to this event before so I'm really exited to be going back to the wonderful Wisley and of course have lunch in the restaurant next to the glass house. This time I'm taking Jack and Ian as they have never visited Wisley before. The weather might not be suitable for a tour around the lovely gardens but I plan to go back when the weather warms up in the Spring.

I'll be back soon with some knitting and crochet projects that I'm trying to finish this month.

We have a Wagamama in Exeter and I must admit it's my first choice for a treat lunch out there. Hoping your garden appreciates your ministrations.

Hello Amanda,

Wish I had a garden!!! something I miss....balcony plants do not make up for it...mind you my balcony plants are doing really well as its like a greenhouse with all the sun coming through the large glass windows.
I'll have to try Wagamama next time I'm back home.

I too gardened on new year's day: wasn't it marvelous that it didn't rain?! I'm hoping for a better gardening year to help with the calories I absorbed last year watching the rain from indoors...

No 44 is my husbands favourite when we visit Wagamama. Never does he veer away from the dish he tried on his first years ago.

Feather & Fan scarf free knitting pattern

This month I'm getting ahead with gifts (dare I say it Christmas in July!) I had some fabulous merino DK yarn in my stash from Biffsugar Yarns in the colourway Waterlilly (225m per 100g) so I decided to knit a simple 4 row feather and fan scarf. The yarn is actually slightly heavier than DK (I think) so the scarf is knitting up beautifully and very soft, snuggly and bouncy.
