purple sprouting broccoli

After my walk today I decided the garden veg patch could do with a tidy. The doves visit my garden daily and I'm sure they have been munching on my purple sprouting broccoli I planted in the Autumn. One plant is much bigger than the rest and hasn't been touched! I could only find one spare CD and tied this to one of the wigwam canes I made last year. Hopefully that will keep them off until I buy some netting. It was good digging over the veg patch and thinking about what to plant this year. Hopefully the allotment space will be ready soon so that I can plan what to plant there too. I think it would be sensible to keep to beans, toms, lettuce etc in the garden and plant some raspberry canes along the fence. The beans didn't do well there last year so it's free space. I'm trying to pack as much into my last day before returning to work tomorrow! Now to finish the washing :-(

I didn't think doves were a problem in the garden unlike pigeons. Hope they are not as we have flocks of them.

I did cheat and buy the plug plants but at £1.99 for 12 plants I thought it was good value. I have a resident black bird but I doubt he eats it. I have seen three doves in my garden so it might be them.

Hi Jo yes I did some things and got up to date. Had my first day back at work and it was ok but lots of things to go through.

Denim Daisy Granny Square construction

And here it is all finished last Friday, just in time for a heat wave! Seriously I do love this jumper and it fits so well with a white t shirt underneath, jeans and flip flops. Easy eyelet yoke

I’ve recently started my first top down jumper and I don’t know why I didn’t start one sooner!  Trying on my easy eyelet yoke sweater in June! It’s so chilly I was quite happy to try it on. With just 4 inches of the body to knit before the border and then the sleeves. I’ve knitted in hand dye Aran yarn from Fiona Sew Happy Creative it’s beautiful to knit with and I’m mixing up some skeins I had in my stash including Bee Happy. I’ll use this for the sleeves blending into a similar colour for the end of the sleeves. Really happy with the fit. I chose the Xl size with 5.5mm KnitPro Cubics tips. I think it will need 600g in total (roughly size 14) pattern by Knitatude if you’ve always wanted to try top down knitting I recommend you try this pattern
