Finishing touches

It's feeling more like Christmas now that I have most of the presents and have written out my cards. I've still got to sew up a couple of pairs of knitted gloves and make one piece of bunting but still found some time to make personal gift tags using up some felt, buttons + ribbon. They are really simple but make the gift bags look special. Last year I made felted love hearts and knitted ones but I wanted to do something new this year.

My sister went to John Lewis this week and commented how expensive their little hand made items are so came home and made her own. Her button heart is lovely and similar ones cost around £10! I've found its getting more difficult to go into the high street to buy craft products but charity shops do a good line in buttons! Enjoy your Sunday whatever you get up to. Amanda x

Thanks Jo I'm quite pleased how they turned out. I posted the last of my cards today and I'm off shopping on Tuesday night with my mum. Well we plan to have dinner there too!

I have just come across your lovely blog i really enjoyed reading your posts. What a bargain getting 3 chilli plants for 20p each. i to still need to do my cards, i will get there in the end.

Denim Daisy Granny Square construction

And here it is all finished last Friday, just in time for a heat wave! Seriously I do love this jumper and it fits so well with a white t shirt underneath, jeans and flip flops. Just waiting for the cold spell so that I can wear it out (rather than around the garden when its cooled down in the evenings!). I haven't written a pattern as such just some helpful notes from my pad. If people want to know how to construct one have added some notes below. As you know the Daisy Granny Square is the design of Sue Pinner from her book Granny Squares published 2013. I do love Sue's book, its packed with so many projects and ideas and the photos are beautiful. The daisy granny square pattern is quite addictive and you soon have a small pile of them in no time! Easy eyelet yoke

I’ve recently started my first top down jumper and I don’t know why I didn’t start one sooner! Trying on my easy eyelet yoke sweater in June! It’s so chilly I was quite happy to try it on. With just 4 inches of the body to knit before the border and then the sleeves. I’ve knitted in hand dye Aran yarn from Fiona Sew Happy Creative it’s beautiful to knit with and I’m mixing up some skeins I had in my stash including Bee Happy. I’ll use this for the sleeves blending into a similar colour for the end of the sleeves. Really happy with the fit. I chose the Xl size with 5.5mm KnitPro Cubics tips. I think it will need 600g in total (roughly size 14) pattern by Knitatude if you’ve always wanted to try top down knitting I recommend you try this pattern
