Chestnuts in the woods

We had a very long walk in Cobham Woods this morning and its the best place to find chestnuts. We don't have an open fire but you can roast chestnuts using this simple method in the oven. The weather was just perfect, sunny and not too cold and we collected 2lbs! We walked around for about 3 three hours stopping once for a coffee out of my flask and Moss enjoying his water! I can't think of a more perfect thing to do on a Sunday morning. Now I'm off to have an afternoon nap!

Moss certainly does look like he's enjoying his drink. Have you still got the other Moss too? It's years since I've had chestnuts, I don't know anywhere where I would be able to pick them so would have to buy them. I spent this morning at doggy training class and it was freezing.

Yes still have Moss 1 but decided not to take her because she can't keep up and I have to carry her :) She had a good week with us on the narrow boat and loved all the attention. Moss 2 was in kennels and he liked it there. Chesnuts were lovely and we picked far too many. Hows it going with the training?

It was Archie's first day at training and he was really good. I've been doing some training myself so he knows the basics but he's a bit of a puller on the lead. I'm taking him mainly for socialisation with other dogs. The lady who runs the class has a border collie named Moss.

I didn't get round to foraging for chestnuts this year, so am quite envious of your collection. Enjoy.
