I had a busy afternoon in the garden today and took some of my own advice and planted a new hedge and moved a small Acer tree down the side of my pond (well Ian's pond!). I chose Ilex because it looks a bit like a Bay but it's a holly and also Cornus Alba because the stems are a lovely colour in the winter. I moved the tree last year to extend my veg patch and it had to be moved to its permanent place today. Lots of rain and very muddy pair of wellies later all planted. I just need to add some new bark chippings and tidy up a bit, probably do that on Sunday.

Just pooping in to say 'Happy Easter' and to ask advice. I really want to grow watercress this year but don't have a river running through my garden :-( I had thought to plant it up in an old belfast sink and just keep it water sodden - do you think this would work? Any suggestions would be really helpful.

We have watercress growing in our pond. Didn't plant it - it just arrived.I suppose the pump gives a bit of a current but not much.
It took us ages to be sure it WAS watercress so we didn't actually eat it. Now we are sure it is but still aren't eating it - it just seems odd to eat stuff from the fishpond!
The problem is that it is very invasive.
