to heat or not to heat....

I bought a heated propagator today. Not sure if they work but it's got to be worth a try. My sister says her B&Q one is good.

So I started off my chilli seeds. I had some left over from last year (Suttons Jalapeno) and I bought a new pack (Mr Fothergill's Aji Crystal hot) a few weeks back. I planted up 8 pots with a few seeds in each just in case some don't germinate. I chose pots because they were easier to find, were new and clean left over from last year. I'll let you know how I get on. And in case you like me found it difficult to find a heated propagator today, Do it All have them for under £15, B&Q have sold out :-(

Wilkinsons had some garlic, so I bought one pack and I was lucky because there were 4 bulbs in the pack. I will try to plant them on Sunday.
Have a great weekend. Amanda x

I'm off chillies completely after an unpleasant incident preparing them for the freezer last year!

Oh what happened? Didn't you wear gloves?

They were supposed to be mild so no I didn't wear gloves. I was fine until I got half way through the colander full and then suffered burning hands for three days!

By the way - get your garlic in quickly but not in the proagator as it needs a period of cold so cloves form. Ours have been planted in tubs in the cold greenhouse since the begining of winter and another batch are in pots so they can be planted outside later.

Thanks for the tip about the garlic. I was going to do it a few weeks ago then we had some more snow. If it stays mild I can do it on Sunday. Any tips are appreciated as its my first time growing garlic. BTW your blog is great and I started to read all about your allotments on Monday.
