I taught myself a new skill over the Christmas period, crochet. I've always wanted to learn how to do it so that I could make a granny blanket (well thats the plan).
I and didn't know where to start so I bought myself a book. I didn't really learn that much from the book and decided to just give it a go (and asked some friends some advice along the way). And after three days I had mastered some basic stitches. I'm not very good but practice makes perfect. It's really fun and different from knitting. I'm going to attempt to make a scarf first now that I've practised a bit! I'll post a picture when I've finished it. The wool I've bought to use is Anchor Style Magicline (dotty). It's a cream colour with flecks of colour and is 100% cotton. What I like about it is the texture and it comes out thicker than you first think and grows quickly, much quicker than knitting. Crochet (pronounced /kroʊˈʃeɪ/) is a process of creating fabric from yarn or thread using a crochet hook. The word is derived from the French word "crochet", meaning hook. Crocheting, similar to knitting, consists of pulling loops of yarn through other loops. Crochet differs from knitting in that only one loop is active at one time (the sole exception being Tunisian crochet), and that a crochet hook is used instead of knitting needles.
