wool stash


this is what I need a cupboard!
Is it just me or do all knitters hoard wool? My husband asked where I was going last night in my PJs, its ok I said just to get a ball of wool out of the boot of my car! He said ‘do you keep sheep in there too!’ It was at that moment I thought I have more wool than there are hours to knit it all! I have a few bags in the loft, a bag by my desk at work, a project with me on the go, in an old blanket box in the spare room, in my craft room, a plastic storage box under the bed oh and yes in the boot of my car! Is that too much wool for one person to keep? You see I have all these plans to knit lots of projects then along comes another bargain and I just have to grab it.  I have a cardigan on the go, a jumper, a scarf and now a blanket. A bit like this one patchwork-blanket or maybe this one Seaside Blanket The blanket will use up lots of oddments of DK wool in the loft, well that’s what I told him ;-)
A bargain yarn I thought you'd be interested in Patons Pompero for 89p a ball at Kemps Woolshop (I don't get any discounts for recommending these!) A nice soft wool ideal for scarfs but 30 deg machine wash. I'm currently knitting a scarf in a horseshoe lace pattern which is quite easy to knit once you get the hang of it, the colour is sort of raspberry. This will be for my boat holiday in October to wrap up in the chilly mornings.

My late mother-in-law used to spend hours knitting and there is still a cupboard, that I can't foreshame to clear out, that is full of balls of wool, knitting needles and patterns!

I never used to stash wool but I'm getting worse. I don't have a huge stash by some people's standards but I do like to have some lovely yarn in reserve. Kemps is a great place for bargains. I'm currently looking for a nice scarf pattern, I don't really know what I'm looking for yet but will know it when I see it.

I've got loads of wool leftover. I can't resist buying the new colours in my favourite ranges, but probably won't use all of them. :( Oh well, they're lovely to look at!

it seems I'm not alone with my wool stash, but like Jo says mine is probably no where near as big as some. It seems that lace is the new thing and of course I've just started another scarf!

Denim Daisy Granny Square construction

My granny tee is finished

You might remember this post from about ten days ago, well I've now finished my 4th granny tee and I'm currently finishing off my fifth one this week that I stared last year (oops). Indigo Blue came about when I took delivery of my Scheepjes Skies mini skien box (heavy/aran) and I'm in love with this yarn! I was sitting watching a film when I had the sudden urge to crochet another Granny Tee by Sarah (aka annaboos house) The mini skeins are perfect and I ended up using two boxes plus a larger 100g skein for the sleeves and joining. It has amazing drape and the colours are a subtle shift of indigo that is going to look fabulous over a white t shirt with jeans and flip flops. Perfect partnership and so bang on trend for the tie dye look that's about for festivals for this summer.  The total cost was around GBP35 not including delivery and I think for a custom made jumper that's not a bad price.
