today is plum jam day!

I picked over 2kg of plums yesterday from the orchard at the end of my road. It was sad really because it's probably the last year I can do this. Wards builders are moving in soon to dig most of it up to make way for 98 houses. I'm not too pleased but we tried to fight it and got no where. So today I am making plum jam and hope to make about 10 jars. Here is the recipe from before Iwade plum jam recipe

It's sad but it seems to be the way nowadays, hedgerows making way for new developments. I've just been catching up with your posts from whilst I've been away on holiday, I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better at last. These illnesses can take their toll and last for quite some time.

Thanks Jo. Did you have a good holiday? Plum jam came out a bit loose :-( But home made rhubarb fool is in the fridge and is delish! My rhubard is in its second year and has gone crazy.

We had a lovely holiday thanks, Amanda. I have to confess that I've never made jam, yet. I was going to give it a go this year with my strawberries, but my daughter enjoyed them fresh too much, they got eaten before I had chance.

Blueberries work really well for a conserve. I made some a little while back and still have a small jar in the fridge!

Oh that is really disheartening. I'd be so angry.

I miss the plums this year, last year fellow allotmenteers were giving them away, hence i was able to make jars of goodies. This year I admire others.
