upclying and granny blanket pile

Over the weekend our son decided he no longer wanted his pine furniture in his bedroom, we bought it in 2003 when we moved to our current house. I remember it being delivered along with the removal men turning up, after we thought we'd lost them and the entire contents of our previous home! I needed another pine cabinet to put my t-shirts and jumpers in so was happy to have it moved into our bedroom. You don't get a lot of storage space with new builds these days (ours is 17 years old this year) A bonus came in the shape of his tripod table lamp complete with grey lamp shade. I've had my eye on this since he bought it in TK Max a few years ago. You've got to love a bit of up-cycling. Maybe some new handles would look better, I feel a trip to TX Max! new home for my granny blankets So my granny blankets now have a new home, and I wake up to this view every morning. Not a bad view and maybe room for one more!

sunshine and trebles

The weather was beautiful (again) in the UK this weekend and I was lucky enough to make time to sit and crochet. My granny stripe blanket is coming to an end; I'm happy and sad at the same time. I have loved every stitch and sewing in ends on this colorful creation and the turquoise border is giving me a lot to smile about, I just love it. So bright and cheerful and it will be perfect for our holiday in September on the broads. I've ordered some more Stylecraft Special DK in some new colours that I don't have in my stash so that I can start a new one, probably for my shop. I have to finish my granny square shrug first, I may even get three projects finished this month! I plan to use the same border for the shrug as I have for the blanket but in the same silver grey colour, the sleeves will be just a plain band. Its taking forever to make this shrug, but I don't think I have that many more rows to complete. The Lion Brand Heartland shrug will be much easier to work...

another granny square blanket

Whilst I wait for seedlings to emerge (4 varieties of tomato plants sown last weekend) I am still busy making granny squares for my own blanket. I actually like the fact the weather has changed and is back to April showers so that I can sit in front of the tv and add more squares. Last night I managed to add a few more and I've now joined 82, not many more to go but still some to crochet, sew in the ends before joining. I guess I will have it finished this month. Another WIP complete, great stuff. Did you know you can also follow me on Pinterest and Instagram Almond blossom in my garden Last Friday we had a trip to London (Covent Garden) and then onto the O2 to see Rick Astley, hightlight of our year as it was the third concert. Loved his new song Keep on Singing and he played some new tracks from his album 50 released in June and some of his classic 80s. Danced and danced and sang out of tune, had the best fun ever! love these tiles in the tube station I still have ...
