Eight-by-Six

I've been spending a lot of time in my garden during lockdown and made some changes. I'll do a seperate post this week to show you some before, during and after photos. Not quite Chelsea Flower Show but it really did need a good tidy up and having lots of extra time whilst being furloughed was the prompt I needed! the front of my flower cushion Anyway whilst sitting in the garden waiting for my chairs to dry, I realised the colours in my agapathus plants were going to look great against my newly painted grey chairs. I have four pots and all with lots of buds. A splash of colour was needed, a new cushion was the perfect choice. With my love of granny squares and feeling the urge to revisit my mustard granny cushion pattern (funny using your own pattern after such a long time). Are you looking for a quick project to make for your mum, sister or friend. I recently made this one in about ten minutes and it such a lovely addition to a present. You can't beat hand made gifts, can you? I'm going to make lots of these in other colours, its not like I don't have lots of yarn in my stash. All you need to do is follow the pattern instructions for the tiny flower but using a 4mm hook and Scheepjes Stonewashed or any DK yarn you have in your stash. When you have completed 5 petals ss to close then chain 50. When you reach ch50 turn and sc (single crochet) into each chain of the previous row. This is like an i cord and can be used for a number of projects, including shoe laces! Once you start you won't want to stop. When you reach ch1 at the top simply ss to close. Sew in the ends and add a button if you want to. Once this actual gift has been gifted I'll post more photos on my Instagram account

I love the designs by Orla Kiely and I have a lovely ceramic herb planter that my sister bought me for my birthday a few years ago, it has a money plant in it. I'm still not feeling too well today and spent the morning in bed, fed up with this awful cold, so to cheer myself up this afternoon I raided my yarn stash for colours to match the planter. A lady who lives in the village has an invitation company and now and again she saves some card samples for me, they make lovely gift tags or small cards. Glue gun ready and a few vintage buttons from my button jar and here they are finished. I'm going to crochet more in bright Cath Kidston colours next. I read on littlegems-world  a few weeks ago about a brooch she had bought on eBay. I was intrigued so purchased one myself earlier this month. Here it is today on my Per Una Spring cardi from last year, well it feels like Spring to me but it also looks great on my coat, handbag probably great on anything. I liked it so much I am bidding on another one and she has so many to choose from! It's not a great photo as it was taken on my mobile phone!
