crazy about cables

Storm Dennis swept in this weekend and forced me to stay indoors all weekend. Not that I had any plans so it was lovely to spend most of the weekend knitting and I managed to knit one hat, amazing for me. I'm super chilled out today, its great what knitting can do for the mind and body. a stack of cable hats I think it was the Winters Rainbow had dye yarn by  SewHappyCreative  that helped me to knit the long brim in double quick time. Having a rainbow on your knitting needles is perfect in stormy weather. Teamed with another gorgeous medium husky pom pom from  CraftyFriendsUK  that's another design I'm going to knit again and again. Perfect for using that small amount of hand dye yarn with some Aran from your stash. my latest rainbow edition I used approx 50g of hand dye Winters Rainbow with approx 70g of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran in Ecru (code 3001010).  my new yarn bowl I changed the pattern slightly on the last row opting for a...

Earl Grey + Marmalade

After knitting my latest hat I noticed that a few of the colours reminded me of Earl Grey and Marmalade. Chatting away to my insta buddy (aka sewhappycreative ) she said oh that's lovely and off she went to produce just this colour! She then sent me the first dye batch on Saturday and I decided to knit another blackberry stitch beanie (my all time favourite knitting pattern). I love the colour and the texture its just right for this beautiful yarm. Earl grey and Marmalade blackberry beanie I knit mine on 5mm KnitPro symfonie short tips, these are so lovely and its a quick knit. Don't let those blackberries fool you into thinking its difficult. Once you get into the rhythm they are easy and knit up in no time at all. You can find the Blackberry Stitch pattern here  My normal yarn for this pattern would be Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran and you can buy it here  (its on special) But why not contact Fiona and try her gorgeous hand dye yarn. Happy Knitting!

Crochet Sweater (Hepworth)

I've been wanting to start the Hepworth sweater ever since I saw it on Instagram (Inside Crochet) but I had to finish my blanket first (not that normally stops me!) I had ten balls of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran stashed under my bed in a plastic box. Is it just me or does everyone have stash in every room and the loft?! Its not a true aran (I don't think) and its a little greedy so I'm just hoping ten balls is enough because its a discontinued colour and I can only find it in Slovenia via eBay and the postage alone is £9 so that's out of my budget.  Especially as I've bought most of Lynns stock at Lusciously Loopy Yarn of Rico Design Essentials soft merino in almost every colour she stocked. The last delivery arrived at work today, hidden away from my husbands view. If you fancy crocheting up this gorgeous sweater you can find the pattern in Inside Crochet issue 117 and follow my progress on my Instagram account  Friday night cast on onto t...

A new stripey jumper (pretty in pink)

A new month, new yarn and a new jumper in candy pink with stripes. Another of my late night eBay bargains (I do love a bargain) This time I'm using Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran and I have lots of colours in my yarn stash. I do love knitting and after finishing my Dill Tee I hatched a plan to knit another in Aran weight yarn ready for the Autumn, its going to be bright! I've been collecting the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran yarn for ages, its my favourite yarn for knitting hats. I started this on Thursday night and by Sunday afternoon I'd reached the seed stitch panel on the top. I'm not the quickest of knitters but knitting in stripes makes me knit faster. I knit and purl into the back loops for the 2x2 rib, it gives it a very neat look. Saturday morning The colours I'm using are: pink, duck egg, ecru, lilac, stone, grey and MUSTARD. Had to have a big splash of mustard and I'm thinking the little sleeves can be a combination of the stripes. Lets see wh...

Brr it's cold

It's definitely getting colder and I have a family birthday next week, my sister in law Ellen. So I thought I'd knit her a slouchy hat to keep her warm, it's the first hand made item to gift this year. I started out with the Blackberry Beanie pattern but changed it slightly and I'm using seed stitch. It knits up quickly because the set up row is all knit, the right side is K1, P1 all the way across. I'm going to rename it Ellen! I gave her a sneak preview last night and it's going to be finished this week. She loved the colour too! slouchy hat seed stitch I'm using Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran in silver but in daylight it's very much like duck egg. I do love this yarn. so soft and snuggly and great stitch definition. I've already bought more yarn for my next project! I'm back to Louisa Harding Akiko for some more luxury, I love knitting with this one too.A new hat for me to go with my padded grey winter coat. My da...
